Training
At Wye Oak we are passionate about horse training. We believe in the teachings of Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt ……..to make the right things easy and the wrong things difficult ……and to reward every little ‘try’. Each horse needs a good solid foundation and needs regular work to create such. This is why we work each horse six days a week, rain (in indoor) or shine. Youngsters, especially, need a routine and quiet, sensible handling. We start all youngsters in the roundpen and in a bit less bridle and gradually work up to a combination bridle and finally a bit. All are saddled and ridden when we consider they are relaxed enough to take a rider and all are treated as individuals. A horse that is never frightened is a much happier horse. We like to ensure that our customers are put together with their horses so as they can get the most enjoyment from them and speak the same language. We have many satisfied customers who return to us for clinics, lessons, and shows with those horses that we first sat on. |
